Pilates is for everyone, at any age, condition or phase in your life. We love how even through pregnancy and after delivery, we can still continue to enjoy the benefits Pilates brings to our bodies and minds.
We have been seeing happy mothers do Pilates through their pregnancy and after. Knowing mummy is healthy and happy is a loving feeling for the babies even before they are born! Perhaps one is never too young to start Pilates. It can start even when one is in the womb! Pilates can help mothers experience more breath and ease during their pregnancy and help them rebuild strength after delivery. Pilates is helping mothers take care of their bodies so they can be strong and happy and take care of their babies.
Postnatal care pilates
My Body My Pilates is excited about our upcoming Postnatal Care Pilates Class. It will run for 6 weeks, starting from Saturday 4th June 2022 at 1pm. Because we want to fully focus on every single body (and every body is unique and has different needs), we are opening up only 5 slots for these sessions. This will allow our instructor to adequately assess how each body is at the beginning, observe what each person needs and give the relevant exercises and guidance to bring about progress and change.

In this Postnatal Care Pilates class, we will focus on a different area of the postpartum body each week. The aim is to heal and strengthen the entire body after pregnancy and birth. After 6 weeks, you will have a deeper understanding and strength of the pelvic floor, abdominals and postural muscles. This class is a good way to understand and train the pelvic floor, as well as aiding in diastasis recti recovery.
And simply put, it is one precious hour mothers need and deserve to ease the tiredness and strain of looking after a new baby. Feel recharged after each session so you can continue to enjoy motherhood. As you understand better why your body is doing what it is doing, you can better identify what it needs.

About the instructor
Kathleen (Katie) Rowan Leigh is a certified Pilates instructor, as well as a certified birth and postpartum doula and licensed massage therapist. A former professional dancer, Katie is bringing together all her experiences across different fields for over a decade to create a class that is designed specifically for the needs of the postpartum body.
Her areas of specialty include pelvic floor rehabilitation, athletic cross training and injury rehabilitation, and helping women prepare for birth, as well as supporting them during recovery.
